Book Description

8 Sep 1995
This is the biography of rap artist, Ice T. He has toured the world three times since 1987, sold ten million records and starred in the movies, "New Jack City", "Ricochet" and "Trespass". Through his brand of hard-core rap , Ice T informed the public about the troubled state of his hometown, South Central, long before the LA riots ignited. The debut of his metal band, Body Count, earned him critical acclaim and many new fans. As one of rap's most articulate spokesman, the artist was chosen by readers of "Rolling Stone" as 1992's Best Male Rapper. Ice T continues to speak out on racism, censorship and other volatile issues.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad read. 22 Nov 2000

The ice opinion gives the reader an interesting pespective on many diferent topics. He deals with some topics very well, for example, the reasoning behind crime and getto violence. Other chapters on issues such as love and religion are almost embarrasing to read. Ice T shows that he seems to be intelligent and not not quite who you would imagine. That is provided they are actually his words, which I believe they are. It's worth a look even if you are sceptical of "Gangsta Rap" as I was.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a book!! 31 Oct 2003
Contrary to the official synopsis this is NOT a biography of Ice-T, It is more a collection of his thought and feelings on certain matters which proves to be a very interesting read. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and i recommend it to fans of Ice himself, rap music or anyone interested in the lives of those in south central and other ganglands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unable to put down! 5 Oct 2001

Fantastic. This book is an amazing insite into the early life and career of one of the few rap artists still changing the face of music today. A frank and honest opinion on many issues that really makes you think. READ IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Compelling 23 Jan 2001

I followed Ice T's rap career, so I was anxious to buy this book. I couldn't put the book down, I find it extremely interesting to read how his mind works, and I find the vast majority of the books content to be sound, always well thought on. Ice T is clearly a very intelligent person, also very funny, but never perfect or even trying to be.
I find this book usually provides me with greater motivation, towards life.
Self belief seems to be the books underlying message.
I feel it has an uplifting spirit, as Ice always pushes for answers to questions, and writes about his own "never say die" attitude to life, or as he would say "yo, we can do this".
I would definately reccomend people buy it.
It is also available in CD form, with Ice himself narrating.

5.0 out of 5 stars entertaining and thought provoking 6 Mar 2012

i enjoyed this book and the viewpoints that ice t has on the subjects he talks about, often illustrating the hypocrisies of society in america (which being in the UK one can also relate to). I found his chapter on religion very enlightening and correct in my opinion. I don't know if some of the advice he gives on relationships btween men and women would work though lol, but otherwise all of it rang true for me. If you are an open minded person then this is a book for you. If you are closed minded and conservative then you would probably be offended by this book, but then i guess the truth hurts.
