Product Description

The programme can help you: increase your feelings of relaxation, calm and confidence; overcome any fears connected with IVF or with conceiving; address any emotional reasons which may have stopped you from conceiving; learn techniques to help you stay more relaxed during all procedures; manage self administering injections more easily; stay calm and relaxed during the removal of eggs, stay relaxed and calm during the replacement of embryos; deal more effectively with daily stresses; sleep better, have more energy and feel more positive; and, focus on other areas in your life other than IVF and conception. IVF can be a very difficult, stressful and emotional process. For many women the transition from conceiving a baby by using the bodies natural approach to a medical and clinical procedure can have additional concerns. Women who are more relaxed during IVF have been shown to have a higher chance of success and are better able to deal with all the procedures involved. A recent clinical trial in Israel showed that women who used Hypnosis during IVF had double the chance of success. Natal hypnotherapy has bought out the first self hypnosis CD dedicated to helping women effective through IVF. This effective CD helps with relaxation and guided visualisation to help you emotionally, mentally and physically prepare your body for successful IVF. The CD consists of soft back ground music with a soothing voice taking you into deep relaxation followed by positive suggestions and encouraging visualisation. The CD has 3 tracks. The first is an introduction and only need be listened to once. The second is to be listened to every day from the beginning of your treatment until the replacement of embryos. This track focuses on preparing you for the clinical procedures, helping with the changes taking place in your body and helping you keep positive and relaxed. Once the embryos have been replaced you can start listening to the third track, which is focused on helping you stay relaxed, focused on other things (not just on the IVF) and helps with visualisations to encourage your body to accept and develop the embryos.

About the Author

Maggie Howell Founder of Natal Hypnotherapy Having learnt self-hypnosis while pregnant, to help with the birth of her first child, Maggie Howell went on to give birth to her eldest son, Joseph, at home in a relaxed and comfortable environment: "When Maggie first mentioned that she was going to use self-hypnosis for her first labour, I was sceptical as to whether she would be able to achieve this. During her labour I was happy to be proved wrong. Her ability to remain relaxed, totally in control, yet fully communicative throughout the experience was impressive." Judy Aitkin, NHS midwife. Ria Haydon, NHS midwife agrees: "Maggie's demeanour was calm. She appeared to be 'sleeping' during most of her contractions, breathing slightly more deeply as they peaked. She used no pharmacological methods of pain relief and conducted her labour and delivery entirely under self-hypnosis. She appeared to experience no pain and very little discomfort throughout." The midwives were so impressed with the effects that they asked Maggie to talk to local antenatal clinics about her experiences. Maggie then decided to give up a successful career in the events and conference industry and train to be a Clinical Hypnotherapist. The aim then, and now, was to use the power of hypnosis to help women overcome their fear of birth and enable them to be more in control and manage the physical sensations involved in child birth. Maggie developed the Natal Hypnotherapy CDs as a result of her research and hypnotherapy work with individual mothers and antenatal groups. She has since used the techniques herself for the births of her second and third son. Maggie is a Doula (trained birth companion) and currently works with midwives, antenatal groups and hospitals running workshops and classes. She also runs 'effective birth preparation' courses for couples teaching them how to use hypnosis for an instinctive birth as well as training workshops for birth professionals. Excellent!!! 13 Oct 2009
Format:Audio CD
My husband and I had been trying to a baby for three years and were just about to embark on fertility treatment. I purchased the CD to help me relax before treatments and appointments. The cd was excellent and really helped me to relax and prepare mentally for what we were going through. I am a massive worrier and really struggle to stay calm. The cd really helped me to slow down, breath and generally relax. I would recommend the cd for anyone who is going through any fertility treatment.

Although I agree that this ladies voice can be a bit annoying and distracting, I was pleased that she had an English accent and I still found the CD very helpful. We have had two cycles of IUI (not IVF). During and after the first cycle I felt really anxious and excited and very impatient to know the result. I found the whole process really stressful because I'm generally a very impatient person anyway! I also felt quite negative about it and kept telling myself and others that it was very unlikely to work the first time... but of course deep down I was hoping it would work! Sadly it was unsuccessful.

After that disappointment, my friend had suggested an IVF hypnosis CD. Initially I thought that sounds a bit way out there. However when I Googled IVF hypnotherapy I discovered that some research published in Israel in 2004 found that women who had hypnotherapy during their IVF process were twice as likely to conceive as those who didn't have hypnotherapy. 28% of women conceived with the hypnotherapy and 14% without. They think this is because if you are stressed your uterus may be contracting which can prevent the embryo from implanting. That made sense to me, and although it is only one study and some have said the research was a bit flawed, I thought it was worth a go.

I felt so stressed out that I couldn't sleep in the days coming up to the insemination and even though I was exercising in an attempt to help with the stress, I felt that I needed something more. So, deciding that it couldn't do any harm, I bought this hypnotherapy CD. It has three tracks on it: an introduction, one track for before embryo placement and one for after. I received it on the day of our IUI so I only listened to the 'pre-treatment' track once, and then I listened to the 'post-treatment' track every day, sometimes twice a day. I think it really did help me to relax. I'm not sure it hypnotised me, but I definitely felt calmer and it helped me to send positive, loving messages to the embryo - I also did that once or twice during the day when I wasn't listening to the CD (e.g. in the shower). Anyway, whether or not it worked, who can know, but the end result is that I am pregnant! :D So I had to give it 5 stars!

I discovered this cd having started our first ivf cycle after having discarded another cd due to the annoying voice. I personally really like the voice on this cd and found especially the comfort dial very helpful. I was very nervous before ec and listened to the cd until I had to walk to theatre and even on the way I kept to the '3,2,1 relax' mantra. If you are lucky enough to fall pregnant you can then use the pregnancy and birth CDs of the same series where the same '3,2,1 relax' triggers are used
