The first part of the album seems to be working up to the title track, though even if this is my personal favourite, the album doesn't diminish in its warmth and intensity thereafter. On top of the instant appeal of the songs themselves, there's a real attention to detail in the production: this is a great-sounding album - the guitars layered meticulously and interestingly, constantly trying to grab your attention from the lovely warmth of John Andrew Frederick's baritone, and his lyrics which are in turn funny without losing impact, and raw and emotional without ever being mawkish.
Overall, I'd say this is my favourite new album this year. Not only that but I think it's the best TBW album so far - familiarity with this band's previous work couldn't in any way prepare me for just how great it is. The fact it's been released in this country on the wonderfully obscure indie label Pink Hedgehog (psychedelic connoisseurs, taking a look at their rota) makes this a band that really should not be overlooked. A classic in the making.
