What strange mind comes up with stories like these? A long time fan of Masterton I did find these two stories a bit of a struggle but I think that was my fault not his. Despite that, I did enjoy them and have read them a couple of times now. If you are trying to decide, I would recommend you DO try them.

I'm a great fan of Masterton's work, and this book did not disappoint me. The book deals with ancient rituals of immortality that found their way through the Middle Ages and Nazi Germany to the modern world. This books deals with fire, and, if you fear fire, it will give you a hard time. Those who don't mind have "their furs a bit scorched" will enjoy a good horror story.

Two very good offerings from Masterton! The Hymn is a chilling, pacy horror that kept me hooked throughout while Night Plague sees the return of the Night Warriors in a vivid supernatural tale crossing the realms of fantasy and reality.
BOTH stories are filled with the sort of graphic scenes of sex and violence that are characteristic of Masterton's books combined with detailed and realistic characterisations and a compelling plot. I throughly recommend this book to any fans of the Horror genre.

laugh out loud bad
This book is woefully written to the point where it became funny, like a really bad horror movie. I was laughing out loud at it and reading bits out to my girlfriend. Read more

This is a good thinking horror book. I love mastertons ability to make everything seem so real and if you do your research you'll find to your horror that he is normally spot on!!
