I Love Janet Evanovich books (Stephanie plum), I was a bit wary of a co-authored book, but this one is fun and witty, and usually it is set 1894 which is not normal for Janet's books. I would say if you like any of Janet's books or are a Pride and Prejudice fan then give this book a try.

I was unsure about buying this book, but am a huge fan of the Plum and Wicked series, so thought I would give it a go. I bought a used version of this book - price and delivery time were fantastic. Condition of the book (classed as very good) was also fantastic. Reading the first chapter I was a little unsure but I am very glad I continued reading, as eventually I was unable to put the book down. It was a very good read. I was slightly disappointed by the ending as it wasn't what I pictured it to be, but despite this I would still highly recommend anyone who loves Janet Evanovich reading this book (do ensure you push through the first couple of chapters, it is worth it).

Janet Evanovich never fails to deliver whether writing solo or collaborating with another. This was suspenseful and humorous highly recommended.

bought this in hardback.I shouldn't have bothered. It was weak & boring.Nowhere could i read JE's voice. It wasn't very funny,he heroine's mother was a copy of Mrs Bennett.....& to be honest Georgette Heyer did it so much better & with more humour. It read like a lot of other Regency novels ,but not as good. The "feisty" Caroline ,wasn't! the so called Little Adventures ,weren'......I really didn't care at all about the characters portrayed.Considering i have all if JE's books on the shelf, which i re-read at regular intervals, especially Hot Six,which still makes me cry with laughter after 5 reads(much to my husbands raised eyebrows)I found his a sad disappointment.

Not worth the money or the time. 9 Jan. 2013

Major disappointment with this one. I read Janet because her characters are usually quirky and unique. This novel was a regurgitated 19th century Romance novel with a formulatic plot: young rich heiress with overbearing mother who wants her to marry a member of the English peerage. Typical rebellionn on the part of the heroine who is in love (typically) with her brother's best friend. They were childhood playmates and of course she envies the freedom of the males in society and wants "true" love, not an arranged marriage. The mother is determined to see her daughter marry the English blueblood who (of course) is evil and has a dark past. The hero (childhood crush) realizes (surprise, surprise) that he is not really a confirmed bachelor and, my oh my, how his best friend's sister has turned into a beauty and he really is in love with her. Mama who has never let our heroine out of her sight, suddenly decides its okay to leave her daughter alone with her maid at the falling down estate of the evil Lord. Hero rushes in to save her and you know the ending.

The characters are shallow and barely developed. I neither liked them or loved them. They were just boring and predictable. The plot was also boring and predictable with some major changes in the characters attitudes and actions without enough substance to justify the change. For example, our heroine's brother who is just bored with society and laizze faire about his sister getting married off to the English Lord, suddenly decides after a Polo match against the Lord where he is injured because of a deliberate attack aimed at the Hero, that the Lord is evil and his sister needs protection. Mama just decides that its okay to leave the daughter who she hasn't left out of her sight with the evil Lord. Give me a break!!! You cannot do justice to a 19th century Romance novel in 300 pages.

Evanovich needs to stick with what she does best: quirky heroines who make us laugh, not formulatic dreck that's been done thousands of times by others and done much better by others. I will no longer pre-order Janet's books as this one was so bad that I wouldn't pay 50 cents for it at a garage sale. The cover deceived me into thinking it was another one of her "screwball" romances.

I'm a huge Janet Evanovich fan. I even love her old books-before she was famous romances. Even then she had quirky characters and plot twists. This book had none of the fun or humor I've come to expect tron a Janet Evanovich book. Boring predictable formula romance. Save your money.

I love Janet Evanovich. Maybe she contributed the title? I barely made it through this book. Don't waste your time. The characters are boring. The plot is contrived. Not worth the $$$$

Very disappointing. Not even close to Janet's usual standards. Not sure if I want to order her book thats due out later this year because this one was so bad. No humor, no plot etc. I have everything she has written and never been let down before.
