TV News reporter Simon Hunt (Richard Gere) and cameraman Duck (Terrence Howard) have worked in the world's hottest war zones: from Bosnia to Iraq, from Somalia to El Salvador. Together they have dodged bullets, filed incisive reports and collected Emmy awards. Then one terrible day in a Bosnian village everything changes. During a live broadcast on national television, Simon has a meltdown. After that, Duck is promoted and Simon disappears. Five years later Duck returns to Sarajevo with rookie reporter Benjamin (Jessie Eisenberg) to cover the fifth anniversary of the end of the war. Simon shows up, a ghost from the past, with the promise of a world exclusive. He convinces Duck that he knows the whereabouts of Bosnia's most wanted war criminal 'The Fox'. Armed with only spurious information Simon, Duck and Benjamin embark on a dark and dangerous mission that takes them deep into hostile territory. It's the scoop of a lifetime but will they live to report it?

Great journo movie 7 Sep 2010
Format:DVD
Well its one of the best journo movies despite the fact that the ending is unrealistic but possible. Great movie.

However in comparison betweem the UK and US DVD.

UK DVD has better video(PAL video) but the US DVD has better extras(audio commentary, the UK DVD is missing this).

That Gere factor... 7 Feb 2009
Format:DVD
This interesting tale, partly based on real events, has Richard Gere as battle hardened reporter Simon Hunt chasing after a war ciminal. His character's motivation is fueled by a very personal tragedy, one of so many in the horrific Balkan wars of the 1990s'.

If Hunt's character had been played by anybody but Gere it may have delivered better. He's not a versatile actor and he was the weak link in this tragic depiction of travesty and subsequent justice.

Terence Hoard as 'Duck' was convincing enough, as were many of the supporting cast. The terrible acts of genocide committed (in this instance by Serbs) should not be forgotten and it is a credit to the producers and director that they have chosen a difficult, but important subject to make into a feature film.

Not a classic, but stimulating nevertheless.

Gere plays this partly tongue-in-cheek even though it's meant to be a serious study of ethnic cleansing in Bosnia.
It is played as a 'buddy' movie which sits badly alongside the horrific rapes and murders that Gere, a news reporter, is supposedly unearthing and avenging.
I suspect that Gere only ever plays Gere: part drama queen, part comedian.
I bought this after seeing the trailer which is misleading because it is seriously dramatic unlike the movie.
Entertaining but very inconsistent.
Pity, could have been great. It's a wonderful subject for a serious movie.
