A Motorcycle Adventure In Search Of The Improbable
It’s 2008. The world enters economic meltdown. A global flu pandemic looms. An historical US presidential election is taking place and, somewhere in the Americas, a lone Irishman is coaxing his temperamental Italian motorcycle through another electrical breakdown…
Interspersed with anecdote, social observation and liberal doses of humour, this book follows writer and seasoned overland traveller Paddy Tyson, through his battle with bureaucracy, bike breaking road surfaces, illness, accident, gun toting police and a pasty Celtic complexion remarkably unsuited to the Central American sun.
Published as a collection for the first time, this witty and informative account is essential reading for travellers and would-be adventurers.

Reader reviews:
This is a genuinely good book. Honestly. This comes from someone who reads a lot of books, and who sets great store by clear, incisive writing. And from someone who until a recent conjunction of circumstances with which I won't bore you had no interest in motorbikes or the people who ride them. The sequence of events is compelling, the story-telling is entertaining, and the narrative builds to portray a picture of a kind and sensitive Irishman, genuinely fascinated by the scenes he is witnessing. It is a delightful mix of personal anecdote and political and social commentary, which leaves the reader with a clear understanding of the size of Wales relative to virtually everything. And if that's not a reason to buy it, I don't know what is.
A fascinating read for all those interested in the world. This is a wonderful book filled with humour and social commentary. You feel as if you are travelling pillion with the author as he encounters inclement weather, mechanical failures, breath-taking scenery and a host of interesting characters, with the odd bear thrown in for good measure! His journey takes him through Canada and into the US for the 2009 presidential election capturing the mood and politics of this momentous time. From there he continues on through central America and provides the reader with all the delights that this journey has to offer. This book has something for everyone - it's a travelogue, a personal memoir and a great journey all with a twist of humour.
