1.0 out of 5 stars Unintelligible gibberish 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase
This book may well be a very erudite study of the Huns but the dreadful translation renders it unintelligible. It just does not make sense and no amount of word juggling will turn it into anything useable.

Example - 'In addition to the processing of iron and bronze, it should noted that of pottery, which also has been widely developed.'

and - 'Typically, even in ordinary burials transbaikalian timber log cabins and boards of which knocked together coffins, well hewn and mangled.'

also ;..;Beginning with the lords of all meat livestock feed, dress it hides, wool and fur are covered with a garment.'

I knew nothing of the Huns before opening this book and can safely say that having opened it and attempted to read it I am still in the same state. Don't bother with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Big Fan Of The Huns...Wish I could have played center field for them. 12 Mar 2014

Short book but then again, they were short people. Seriously, Ms Georgieva doesn't mess around but gets right down to the meat of describing the Huns. Took about an hour out of my reading time but well worth it. Money spent well. Only gripe...well none actually.
3.0 out of 5 stars Great info but bad translation! 23 Feb 2014

I was excited to get this book as my mother and all of her ancestors came from Hungary and are Magyars. As I read the book I was very disappointed!! It has a LOT OF FANTASTIC INFORMATION in it but the translation is SO bad that it is hard to read and almost reads like you are trying to read a foreign language!!!
This book is wonderful but it needs to go back to the translator and proofreader!!!!!
