  • If the zombies get too close, a sneaky swipe with your Wilmot will pistol-whip the monsters into submission. Cool!
  • The first level's set in this freaky funfair, where the residents have all been chomped by zombies and risen again. Scary!
  • Even with the Wiki's graphical limitations, the zombies look terrifying when they get up close. You'll have nightmares!

Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Lock 'n' load, Wiki owners - the daddy of zombie shooters is coming to your console! Released early next year, The House Of The Dead: Overkill is aimed at gamers with an ironclad stomach, dead-eye rifle skills and a suspect taste for blood.

A prequel to the other games in the series, Overkill takes a fun, new direction, looking like a cheesy, 70s exploitation flick! But unchanged is the blood spattering, head-exploding, zombie-shooting action which, ultimately, is what we'll buy it for!

Product Description

The House of the Dead: Overkill charges you with mowing down waves of infected, blood-thirsty zombies in a last-ditch effort to survive Bayou City and uncover the horrific truth behind the origins of the House of the Dead.

Survival horror as it's never been seen before! A pulp-style take on the classic Sega light-gun shooter series. Back when the famous Agent G was still fresh out of the academy, he teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Agent Washington to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little did they know what blood-soaked mutant horror would await them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City.

  • Pulp Funk Horror. Zombie cool, one of the most popular shooter classics injected with a whole new retro b-movie look.
  • An utterly in-your-face zombie-dismembering blast. Non-stop light-gun style action on the Wii , blow apart zombies for high-score thrills.
  • Superb co-op action on Wii. Bring a friend and play the game as intended in your own buddy action movie as two of the meanest characters in videogaming.
  • Relentless, gore-drenched, over-the-top action. Only the coolest, most cold-hearted agent's going to keep his head against the zombie flood. Use "Slow-Mofo Time" to make the perfect head-popping shot and "Evil Eye" to spot moments of opportunity that'll send the whole environment up in flames.
  • Wii Remote reactions. Get knee-deep in the dead with motion-sensitive Wii-controls. Shuck a shotgun and when the zombies get too close, pistol whip jaws off or cave some heads in with the stock of your pump-action - all in stomach-churning close-up.

5.0 out of 5 stars SICK, TWISTED AND A TOTAL BLAST! 14 Feb 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I'm hooked on this game - not in a small way but seriously, seriously hooked. I've spent the best part of today playing it and have only come away from it to spend some time with my wife - darn this Valentines day malarkey! - and write this quick point by point list of the good and bad of this outrageously gruesome little gem, and hopefully that'll help you decide if HOTD:O is worth your time, money, not to mention yout skills with a hand cannon!

- Addictive beyond compare - if you're a high score junky then you'll be in seventh heaven, if you're a gore hound: likewise, and if you're into collecting and unlocking virtual trinkets then you'll be right at home too. For a light gun game there is a heck of a lot to do.
- Satisfyingly chunky head shots (and all other shots too), hugely visceral - it'll have the teenager in you screaming to get out and have a go! A very, very bloody business it is!
- At time the humor is actually spot on and it gave me a little giggle once or twice.
- The Grindhouse movie feel is spot on and not just an aping of Tarantino's homage - although there is a bit of that too, which is okay.
- The controls are spot on and can be calibrated to suite!
- The hand cannon available for the game is one of the best peripherals I've used for the system thus far.
- The graphics are above and beyond what we wii owners are used to and I'm quite proud to have this game sit side by side with my 360 games.
- A good change of pace from the usual wii-centric kiddy games choc full of gimmicks and mini games, and probably the most fun I've had with my Wii since Mario Galaxy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Utterly Disgraceful! 11 Mar 2010
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This is the most foul-mouthed, obscene, gratuitously violent and blasphemous video game that I have ever played. Thoroughly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic shoot em up, Wii magic!! 6 Jan 2011
By Andy F
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Are you easily offended? would you be shocked by the foul language of Roy Chubby Brown or Frankie Boyle? if so maybe this game isn't for you, I, on the other hand love that kind of humour.
This is a comedy and a game rolled into one. The foul and sometimes offensive statements made on this game are very tongue in cheek, which really do add to the appeal of it.
It's got a retro feel, likened to a foul mouthed Starsky and Hutch, done Tarrantino style.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing from start to finish, especially with the Wii hand Cannon, just blasting away to your hearts content, destroying an endless stream of zombies and mutants. The slow motion targets when hit let you watch carnage in super slo-mo with bits of brain and flesh scattered far and wide on impact.
If you like your games clean and unoffensive, then this isn't for you, on the other hand if you're open to a barrage of foul four letter cursing, tongue in cheek comedy, and thoroughly blood splattering fun, then go and buy, it'll be the best shoot em up you've ever played.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Right, first things first. House of the Dead - Overkill has got to be THE best looking game out on the Wii ever. So many people have always whined that the Wii is not a serious contender as a console, that it doesn't match up to the likes of the XBOX360 and PS3 - well - think again, doubters!

Here it is, a game of massive potential with brilliant graphics and mind numbing blood gore and enough expletives to make Mary Whitehouse foam at the mouth. For the faint hearted this game is certainly not.

The gameplay is addicitve, and this is a worthy follow up to its predacessors House of the Dead 2 and 3 which are immensely playable.

The game is spooky, with zombies coming at you out of the dark, and there's all sorts of power ups to blast at - wierd floating green mists that slow the action down to get in a few decent headshots, golden brains to rack up the high score and of course, those all important power ups - believe me you'll need them.

As mentioned, the graphics are simply astounding - definitely ranking up there with the likes of XBOX 360. The only gripe is, that the Wii notably suffers at times for this. When the action gets at its busiest, things slow and stutter a little, meaning occasionaly a shot or goodie is missed, but on the whole, they're minor gripes for a game which has really set the benchmark now for what our little Wii is capable of.

This game has the added joy of three mini games, one of which is a fairground target practice affair. They're all pretty standard, and probably won't get played much as you'll be hooked on the main feature. Speaking of the game, which is themed like a movie, there's weapons upgrades to be unlocked, and you can always throw in even MORE zombies if you want to.

5.0 out of 5 stars best house of the dead ever... yet 19 Mar 2009
By Mark D

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
those that have played any house of the dead game will know the score, stand there (or sit) while the game guides you round and you shoot at things on the screen, now add a beyond foul mouthed samual l jackson-a-like and a whole shed load of zombies... mutants, and then crank up the craziness by making the story line include things that would make most churches start screaming about how this game is destroying decent society.

its all set in a bayou... somewhere in america and the whole game plays like a grindhouse film, think planet terror rather than death proof. so its got sleaze and swearing plus a grainy and jerky film look which i think works well and also masks the limits of the wii on picture.

if you like shooting games or you are into zombie films/games then buy it, if you are not easily offended and want something for your wii thats not cute bunnies or hula hoop practice then buy it. the only bad thing anyone i've shown the game, has said was my girlfriend saying, oh so there's no way our son can play it then?

it is not for children
