Book Description

1 Jan 2012
Milo Turner, a high-living confidence man, has known but one real love in his life, a young woman he met first as a tawny-skinned child adopted by his mentor in crime. For a man who makes his living by deception, she is just about an ideal partner. But when posing as a lost heiress to a supermarket fortune proves her undoing, Milo sets out for vengeance, in a complex scheme inviting the killers to add him, a female artist, and her precocious young daughter to the death list. By the author of The Ninety Million Dollar Mouse. This new edition includes an Afterword by the author, plus the classic short story "Matchwit" upon which the novel is based. Said Publishers Weekly: "Fun through the last wry line."

Francis M. Nevins has won two Edgar awards from the Mystery Writers of America for his scholarly work on Cornell Woolrich and Ellery Queen. By training a lawyer, he has written many essays on the nexus between fiction and the law. But to mystery fans, Mr. Nevins is at least equally known as the author of a number of novels and dozens of classic detective stories, many of them collected in Night Forms (2010). He is also the editor of Love and Night: Unknown Stories by Cornell Woolrich (2011) from Perfect Crime Books.
