Hornsey is a generally prosperous part of north London. The Highgate and Hornsey village sections are mainly Victorian, but much of the rest is well-built late Victorian or Edwardian, which appealed to people who wanted to escape overcrowded central London. They also found that they had marvellous views out over the capital, all the way to the Thames and beyond.

This is a very interesting book about the history of various aspects of like in the whole of Hornsey, including Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Fortis Green and others. Invaluable, for those living in any part of Hornsey wanting to know `how it all started'.
