More About the Author

Ian Falloon was born in New Zealand in 1952 and studied engineering and music at Victoria University, Wellington. After a career as a symphony orchestra oboist was brought to an end by a motorcycle accident he began writing articles on motorcycles for magazines. His first book, the Ducati Story, was published in 1996 and in now in five editions and has been published in three languages. The success of the Ducati Story led to a series of Ducati books and histories of Honda, Kawasaki, BMW, and Moto Guzzi motorcycles. He has now written 30 books on motorcycles, mostly historical but also restoration guides. With an interest and passion spanning forty years he now concentrates on collecting and restoring older Italian motorcycles, particularly Ducati, MV Agusta, Laverda, and Moto Guzzi. Product Description

Synopsis

After the nightmare of the Second World War, Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa created the Dream. This was followed by the Benly and Super Cub, which led to a series of twin-cylinder motorcycles including the Super Hawk and CB450. Today - through a marriage of engineering brilliance and astute marketing - Honda has become the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer, dominating both the race track and showroom. It is an extraordinary story, told here with particular reference to the top road and road racing models.

I bought this for my son in law who is a keen Honda motorcyclist. (as I was in my youthdom). Whilst an excellent coffee table book and something I'm sure he will enjoy, it is let down as a reference book by its index. No Honda motorcycle of any type whatsoever is listed in the index and ,according to the flyleaf, this is the complete history of Honda motorcycles. If you want to look up a particular model, you can't. Strange.

Honda's History 12 Jan 2011
By kahlilj - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Could not put this book down! If you are an avid honda enthusiast as I am, then this book is a must have. Starting with the humble & determined beginnings of Soichiro in the 1940's until his successors thru the mid 2000's, this book gives lots of details about each bike successful & not so much in Honda's elaborate motorcycling history.
Excellent read!

I bought the book to learn more about Honda's History. I couldn't put it down for the first week that i had it! It has a ton of production and racing history. I have learned a great amount about many of Honda's bikes. Very satisfied.
