Product Description

Abandoned by his father, he was a reform school kid with nothing going for him and a giant chip on his shoulder. He joined the Marines, but never stayed far from trouble. Then he discovered acting - and the woman who would be with him for most of his meteoric career. He was Steve McQueen, one of Hollywood s highest paid stars - and one of its most diffi cult, most rebellious and, when he wished, most charming. His story is told with fi lm clips from his greatest performances, including The Magnifi cent Seven, Love With The Proper Stranger, The Cincinnati Kid, The Reivers, The Great Escape, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Bullitt. Also shown are home movies - and the recollections of those who knew him best, including Steve s fi rst wife, Neile McQueen Toffel and their children, Terri and Chad, fellow actors Chuck Norris, Karl Malden, Don Gordon, as well as directors, producers, agents and the racing buddies who saw it all happen. Narrated by James Coburn.

5.0 out of 5 stars McQueen is the "Man on the Edge!" 8 Jun 2010
This is a fantastic DVD that portrays our 'supposed' view of the great movie legend Steve McQueen.

With interviews from his family, friends, fellow actors and directors this documentary is fantastic and worth every penny. A few small snippets of interviews with Steve himself and some home footage and photos complete the DVD with great insight into the man both on and off screen.

As a die-hard fan myself I can only believe that this docummentary is as accurate as possible, with a good depth of knowlege about McQueen and his acting. The DVD is appropriate length, leaving me wanting a bit more but fulfilling my curiosity for now!! It follows his life chronologically and is enthusiastic about his life's work. A must-have for any McQueen fan! :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, however.... 1 July 2012
Knowing that there is no better edition of this document,it's better for fans of the great actor to have it than not to have it... However, why didn't they release it properly, that is from the original master source? This looks like taken from a videotape, and actually I have kept the tapes of this collection from the 90s, and checking I can assure that they were in better quality, so the transfer work has definitely been poor. It's a half-frustration, just like it is for the other titles(Charlton Heston's, in which the sound is even worse, Cary Grant's, in which the quality of the footage was astounding in the original tape version etc..) of this collection.
Neverthesless these interviews of the great people who knew them are very valuable, which still make this title a precious add to films aficionados.
