This does have all his best stuff - the main hits and others.
His sound is distinctive and unmistakeable - all teardrops and broken hearts stuff but wth a dramatic soundtrack to the songs.
Everyone knows 'Runaway' and you cannot hear this without imagining you are at a fairground as a teenager. 'So Long Baby' is demented in parts. I have always really rated 'Keep Searchin We'll Follow the Sun' and 'Strarnger in Town' when will Tarantino feature some of Del Shannons stuff in a film?
He was too late for the 50s and too early for the 60s and this stuff is not for dancing too really.
It is for lone playing if you've been dumped!
His own life style was tragic and he found it hard to deal with not having any more chart success but what he recorded, the hits he did have, the unmistakeable sound was worth his having lived.
He committed suicide and it makes you think that the melancholy of most of these songs comes from within him. These would make a great early 60s setting teen heart break movie!
Classic stuff, well worth buying.
