Excellent Read 8 Dec 2006

Format:Paperback
You have to read this with your tongue very firmly in your cheek - the way it was written! The first Danny King I have read and it was really good fun to read. Okay the guy is a psycho but what the hell. You really warm to him and emphathise with him to some extent. I loved the unpredicatbility of the book and also the plotting. I all comes together at the end which is what I liked most. The opening scene when he has a night out with an overweight girlfriend is great fun - though not for his victims! A great romp of a read as long as you dont take it all to seriously - these people just do not exist!

A really funny and enjoyable book that i couldn't put down. I became so engrossed in the book that i almost beleived it was ok to just knock people off. When I came back to reality I was desperate to read more of Danny king. I have just finished Bank Robber Diaries (in two days) and am now looking forward to the burglar diaries.
Hurry up Danny with your next book!

If you thought Danny King had peaked in his dark humour with The Bank robber Diaries, then think again. The Hitman Diaries blows it out of the water as far as sheer wanton violence is concerned, yet at the same time this is even funnier than The Bank Robber Diaries. Despite the main character's (Ian's) disturbingly violent (psychopathic, but he does't know it) nature, you actually really warm to him, and in a strange kind of way, understand him and feel for him (or maybe it's just me...). This is an ability of Kings's since he manages to get you to like the criminals in all three of his 'Diaries'. As an added bonus, there is, at least a plot in this one (the absence of which hasn't stopped his previous two books being hillarious). Roll on The Pornographer Diaries (next) and (in the pipeline according to www.dannykingbooks.com):
Milo's Marauders
Milo's Run
The Mugger Diaries
The Highwayman Diaries (period novel)
The Pirate Diaries (period novel)
The Bent Copper Diaries
The Henchman Diaries
The Vampire Diaries
The Victim Diaries
The Last Man on Earth Diaries
The Criminal Classes

A bit disturbing really
Well, maybe I'm having a sense of humour failure, but I couldn't really get myself past the fact that the main character is a psychopathic murderer. Read more

Just read it. It's a hoot.
