Product Description

Product Description

The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy OST soundtracks the hilarious film comedy in which Earthman Arthur Dent is having a very bad day. His house is about to be bulldozed, he discovers that his best friend is an alien and to top things off, Planet Earth is about to be demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass. Arthur's only chance for survival: hitch a ride on a passing spacecraft. For the novice space traveller, the greatest adventure in the universe begins when the world ends. The Soundtrack to the movie includes an eclectic mix of songs from artists including Al Green, The Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon, and the king of swing Perry Como.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like the Film, this Does Adams Proud 7 May 2005
Format:Audio CD
This is a film score trully worthy of John Williams himself, combining sweeping orchestral pieces with modern synth music (as well as a very Star-Wars-esque alien street music piece, much like those on the Return of the Jedi soundtrack). Tracks to look out for on the CD are 'Journey of the Sorcerer', which devotees will instantly recognise as the original Hitchhiker's theme, as well as the two brilliant bonus tracks. The first is 'Vote Beeblebrox', which trully encaptures Douglas Adam's humour, directed as a hilariously absurd capaign song. The second is 'Reasons to be Miserable', a great song (spoken by Stephen Fry) whose lyrics were actually written by Adams himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Supoib 10 May 2005
Format:Audio CD
I got this for my birthday only yesterday and I already love it. It's such a mix: everything from classical music to rock guitar solos. My favourite by far is the almost jazzy So Long and Thanks for all the Fish reprise. The Viltvodle Street Music sounds like elevator music: it's great to just stand up and look at your watch continuously to.
This is a brilliant album to buy, and it's completely worth it. I mean, look at all those tracks!

5.0 out of 5 stars A League Of His Own 25 April 2005
By J. Rain
Format:Audio CD
As good as the source material is, and as amazing as Douglas Adams story is, one amazing fact has slipped through the net along with the Dolphins.
Joby Talbot has arrived in the big time, at last!
After years of creating great scores for both Neil Hannon(who features on this soundtrack)and The League of Gentlemen (whos upcoming film Talbot has also scored)
Talbot has put together the kind of mature and amazing score i and im sure you all knew he was capible of.
The opening show tune "So long and thanks for all the fish" is a fantastic opener of Cole Porter dimensions, Talbot has always been talented at arranging overblown scores when called upon, for proof see Divine Comedy's "here comes the flood"
There are of course musical references for all the fanboys, many of the guide sections seem to have kept the syth effects, incidently a very good track to look out for is "Journey of the Sorcerer" (trust me)
The whole soundtrack develops into a very accomplished affair, that only goes to make one more thirsty for the upcoming film, and indeed even thirstier for more Talbot scores.
