Product Description

Ever wish you had the chance to get back at the boss who undermined you...the spouse who cheated on you...or the friend who deceived you? One night, a down-on-his-luck businessman, Allan Campbell (Cole Hauser), meets a mysterious stranger, Jonas Arbor (Cuba Gooding Jr.), who claims to be a professional hit man. Jonas offers to take out five targets, free of charge. Thinking it's a bad joke, Allan jots down his own private hit list. The next day, the people he named start turning up dead, and all the evidence points to Allan. Hunted by the police and haunted by guilt, Allan races against time to stop the murders he set in motion. In this world, vengeance always has a price.

4.0 out of 5 stars very decent 23 Jun 2011
Format:DVD
Certainly, an original story line, with rather convincing acting. After a very bad day at work and at home, Cole Hauser, after a good drink, decides to pour out all his personal problems to a stranger in a bar. Further more just for fun, he draws up a hit list, of people he would like to be 'bumped off'.

Unfortunately, he realises that he is talking to a deranged assasin (Cuba Gooding Jr), who intends to take him to his word. The rest of the film is devoted to Cole Hauser trying to stop the terrible process he has put in motion. The plot is quite straight forward, although not everything is quite as it seems.

As with most decent films, the time seems to fly by. Enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful What You Wish For 18 Dec 2011
By Valerie J. TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
Oh dear, you've really got to be careful what you wish for, haven't you?

A fed-up guy called Allan tells all to a stranger in a bar (Cuba Gooding Jnr - Ticking Clock, Lies & Illusions, Instinct). He's had a horrid time of it lately has the guy. He asks what the stranger does for a living. The stranger tells him he is a hit man. The guy doesn't believe it. So the stranger, seemingly showing some kind of sympathy for the man's plight, asks him to write a list of who he would like bumped off. The guy, thinking it all one big joke, plays along and writes a list. Oh dear, the stranger wasn't joking. What a to do! Can he stop the hitman before he clears the list? Best watch it and find out. Here's a taster...

I just love Cuba Gooding in serious roles. He gets better and better. I loved it. Some will hate it! You'll have to decide for yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars THE TRIGGER IS A FAST FORWARD BUTTON 19 Sep 2013
By The Movie Guy TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
Allan (Cole Hauser) is having a bad day. His boss gave his promotion to a younger co-worker who stole his ideas. Allan goes home to find his wife sleeping with his best friend. Allan also has a shiner from making a bad bet and not being able to pay up. While guzzling JD at a bar he meets up with Jonas (Cuba Goodling) a Jose Cuervo man. Jonas tells Allan he is a hit man and has recently killed a conservative TV talking head. He asks Allen to make a list of 5 people he would want to have killed, and as his friend, Jonas will do it. Allen plays along, thinking this is good therapy, i.e. to make a list, but not really kill them. When Allen returns from the men's room, Jonas is gone with the list. By the time he gets to work the next day, his boss is dead.

After the second person is killed we find out Jonas is terminal and has decided to do some free lance killing. During the movie Cuba talks in broad philosophical terms, while Allan wants to stop the insanity of all the killing. The movie is embarrassingly predictable. I don't recall Goodling having such a lame role. Clearly his acting abilities were wasted as his part was designed for someone who could read lines without having to feel them. Unconvincing is perhaps the word that best describes the movie. 2 1/2 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Collateral translates well to DTV 22 Dec 2012
Format:DVD
This is really a DTV Collateral rip-off (note Cuba Gooding Jr's clothing on the cover) but it works out pretty well. Director William Kaufman also made the excellent 'Sinners and Saints' (released in the UK as 'Bad Cop'). Whilst this isn't as good, it's still above-average DTV and an interesting variant on the Collateral story.
