Review

"I think Abraham Lincoln would find this book funny. Right after he decided Facebook was a huge waste of time."--Justin Halpern, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of Sh*t My Dad Says

Product Description

In August 2010, Wylie Overstreet published a satirical article called "If Historical Events Had Facebook Statuses" on the website CoolMaterial.com. Within a month, it had received 3 million views and had been liked by over 170,000 Facebook users. In "The History of the World According to Facebook", Overstreet expands this concept into a full-length history of the world, from its creation up through present day, as if Facebook had existed all along and Abraham Lincoln had written a status update about taking the missus to the theater on April 15, 1865 and Ben Franklin had done the same alerting his network that he'd signed the Declaration of Independence (Bring it, replied John Adams). Filled with hundreds of real-life historical figures and thousands of not-at-all-real Facebook statuses, comments, and actions, and parodying Facebook users' proclivity to over-share and use lazy jargon (lol, rofl, fml, etc.), this is the definitive humor book for our generation.

Hilarious! 21 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback
I bought this book for a friend but had a quick nosy through some of the pages and decided I needed to buy this for myself too!

Absolutely comical for those who know all about Facebook (and perhaps spend a bit too much time on it).

Bought this as a stocking filler for my 19yr old facebook addict, after some very heavy hints! She loves it... and the bits I have read so far are brilliant. If history had been this interesting at school I may have paid more attention.

Very funny 3 April 2012
By Izzy
Format:Paperback
I received this book as a Christmas present and I absolutely love it. It is presented in a Facebook status/updates layout (pre-timeline) and is basically a collection of FB posts through the ages. It is very witty and perfect for someone like me who spends rather a lot of time on social networks in general - guess that's why it was bought for me! :)
The books pokes fun quite a lot at historical events - especially the creation theories, so if you are a tad sensitive to this sort of humour, I suggest you avoid. But may I also add that (in my opinion of course) this is done affectionately rather than maliciously.
