Ever wanted to see a compilation of original 1950s Formula One and sports car racing footage on one DVD? Yep, me too.
"The History of Motor Racing, 1950s" is a great film which features plenty of colour (and black and white) footage from the heyday of Stirling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio and Mike Hawthorn. Covering the Formula One World Championship, Le Mans, the Mille Miglia and even Dundrod there's something on this DVD for everyone, including footage that most people might not have seen before.
Taking us through the decade year by year, it covers the major motoring events and tells the story of the development of the formula and changes in attitudes to racing, particularly following the 1995 Le Mans Disaster.
The commentary is informative enough, although if you're anything like me it'll go in one ear and out the other as the footage does grab most of your attention.
A great DVD for the collection. Get out your rose tinted glasses and watch in awe!
