As an introduction to Hermes Scarves and the House of Hermes, this book is excellent. It gives a limited overview of the history and developement of the Hermes Scarf.I particularly liked the section showing the overlapping method of printing the colours and designs of the scarves. The heavy quality of the paper lends itself to good reproduction of the scarf designs.
I was disappointed by the limited numbers of photos of older designs, as the majority of the designs illustrated seem to be more modern. I suppose I was hoping for more of a catalogue of designs, chronologically ordered with more information about the designers too. I had hoped for a selection of designs by the same artist, showing their design choices and developement of the various themes.
Perhaps these ideas will be incorporated into Book 2.
All in all, a good book at a reasonable price. Thanks Amazon.

I was a bit disappointed. I had expected a cornucopia of different Hermes scarves and a factual history. But the pictures were nothing special and only showed a compative few of their myriad of designs. However, probably a must for the dedicated collector.

Disappointed that the book contained little information on the making of the scarf, which must be considered to be part of the mystique. The book is little more than a picture book of Hermes scarves, as the amount of text is relatively small. For a book of this size and apparent promise, it does not really deliver unfortunately.
