First Sentence
Part of the myth and lore of the Tarot begins with the idea, as many sources suggest, that the Tarot originated with the early Egyptians-some say even earlier than that, in Atlantis-and then was carried to other cultures in various ways. Read the first page

Straight to the Heart 25 July 2000
By Errol McLendon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Exanding on the premise that the first two cards of the Celtic Cross spread give a concise summation of the entire spread, the authors have written a book simple enough for a beginner, but profound enough for a seasoned reader. They utilize card images from the Rider-Waite and the Robin Wood decks. Their comparisons of each of the cards alone is a great refresher course in card meanings. Also, the common symbolism in the two desks really solidifies potential interpretations. Written in a casual, fun to read style, I was caught up in this book immediately. A nice refresher and a must have for any reader looking for a quick snapshot of a reading in two-cards. If you do phone readings, group readings or just would like a solid beginning to any reading, the theories and interpretations in this book will be valuable to you

Two Card Readings 6 Feb 2007
By Bonnie Cehovet - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Sandra Thomson is one of my favorite people in the Tarot world. Her background in psychology helps to move the Tarot from a tool of divination to a tool of personal study and empowerment.

In creating the two card reading system, Thomson et al referenced the first two positions of the traditional Celtic Cross spread. The position definitions for their two card reading then became Situation and Challenge.

I think what impressed me the most was that instead of relying on upright and reversed card meanings, the authors developed a "theme" for each of the cards. In the presentation of the 78 cards of the Tarot, they then offer three or more suggestions each for interpretation in the Situation and Challenge positions.

This book is an excellent choice for both beginners and more seasoned readers.
