I only speak for myself, but listening to these cds has sincerely made me much nicer to be around. Kinder, wiser, and happier. The teachers kindness comes through very clearly and I find these cds very pleasant to listen to.
I would deeply recomend these cds to anyone. Not for the thing itself, but, to see; like it "says on the can" - "the healing power of loving kindness". I found it extremely helpful, and I am very grateful for this release. :-)

exceptional contribution to loving-kindness teachings 1 May 2009
By Massachusetts - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
For serious practitioners of Buddhist meditation who are interested in loving-kindness, this book and set of three CDs offers an exceptional and (perhaps) unique contribution to loving-kindness teachings. To begin with, Tulku Thondup is the genuine article. He was raised and educated in a monastery in East Tibet until he fled to India in 1958, eventually coming to the West in 1980 as a visiting scholar at Harvard, and then continuing to live in Cambridge, MA. Tulku Thondup is wise, humble, and articulate, combing deep practice with an intellectual and practical understanding of traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings. The gem of this book/CDs are the 2nd and 3rd CD disks which, taken together, are a two-hour guided meditation on loving-kindness that provides the listener with a rich and transforming journey. I have practiced and taught meditation, mostly in the Insight Meditation tradition, for the past 25 years. I know of no better guide to loving-kindness practice than this. But, one must be prepared to spend an hour or so at a stretch for purposes of the guided meditation practice.

The Healing Power of Loving-Kindness 28 Oct. 2009
By Sheila McBroom - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
THE HEALING POWER of LOVING-KINDNESS offered by Tulku Thondup is a wonderfully generous gift for Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. I found the book and the set of three CDs instructive and inspiring. The availability of visual and auditory guidance helped me orient my body and mind to receive the instruction in preparation for a deep, extended meditation experience. The first CD gives pertinent step-by-step instruction. Tulku Thondup's gentle voice of wisdom explains the meaning of the Buddha of Loving-Kindness and the necessary meditative tools. The second CD provides the opportunity to align posture, breath, and conceptual mind before visualizing and evoking the tangible blessings of Loving-Kindness. The third CD offers a series of visualizations and mantra that stimulate one's own devotion and activates a genuine desire for personal and global peace and happiness. In a world full of turmoil and stress, I feel so fortunate for this sublime help offered by an authentic and esteemed Buddhist teacher.

This book and set of three CDs provides step-by-step instruction in the practice of Loving-Kindness, as well as guided meditation and visualization. I find listening to the CDs especially beneficial. Tulku Thondup's gentle voice guides you throughout, making it easy to relax into a deeper experience of Loving-Kindness. This is a valuable assist for anyone, whether they are experienced with meditation or not. It provides much more than just information--it's a wonderful tool for maintaining a more compassionate orientation in life.

A Treasure Trove for the Heart 30 Aug. 2010
By Bryan Phillips - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book & CD combo are an excellent introduction to the world of Buddhist sacred toning. The defining characteristic of Indo-Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism is the aspiration that awakening occurs for all beings. This combination pack introduces you to the ethical reasonings and contemplative practices that will help you help both yourself and others simultaneously. As you begin to consider, then understand, then experience lovingkindness and compassion yourself, notions of both self and world transform.

Having met Tulku Thondup myself and having received teachings from him personally, I can assure you that this is a man of spirit who WALKS his talk.

An earlier reviewer is correct that some of the sound quality on the CDs is compromised because they consist of a recording of live teachings. However, the text of the book reiterates all of the instructions on the CDs, so the real jewel of the CDs comes in the second half of CD 2 (tracks 7-12). Here Tulku T actually performs the mantra, interspersed with brief periods where he offers pithy, inspirational instructions. It is a critical (and transformative!) thing to HEAR the mantra intoned by a seasoned practitioner. Listening to his voice will encourage you and guide you in the process of discovering your own.

If you are interested in other high quality recorded versions of the mantra of great compassion, I direct you to CDs by Lama Urgyen Dorje (Lake of the Lotus) & Lama Tashi (Tibetan Master Chants). The former is solo devotional song, while the latter is a gorgeous representation of Tibetan multiphonic throat singing.

Wonderful A to Z loving kindness meditation 9 Feb. 2014
By DressLover - Published on Amazon.com

Tulku Thondup uses humor and modern western language to teach on a basic yet profound Buddhist teaching, Loving Kindness. He then leads us through each stage of meditation and his transmission power comes through powerfully on the CD.
I was stuck on the freeway in Atlanta for 14 hours during the 2" of snow that shut down the city. I had this cd with me and working with it assisted me in having a calm and open time of it aside from the discomfort of being in a 14 hr traffic jam. That's what I call a relevant meditation aid.
