Double bill of comedies from director Todd Phillips. In 'The Hangover' (2009) Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis star as three friends who lose their best friend, Doug (Justin Bartha), just 40 hours before his wedding during the various drunken misadventures that occur at his Las Vegas bachelor party. The trio must attempt to retrace all the bad decisions they made the night before and figure out where things went wrong. Heather Graham co-stars. In the sequel, 'The Hangover: Part 2' (2011), Alan (Galifianakis), Doug (Bartha), Phil (Cooper) and Stu (Helms) jet out to Bangkok for Stu's wedding to his Thai girlfriend (Jamie Chung). With the mortifying memories of Doug's bachelor party in Las Vegas forever etched in everyone's minds, Stu decides to play things safe. Surely nothing can go wrong with a sedate pre-wedding brunch... or can it? The supporting cast includes Liam Neeson and Juliette Lewis, while former president Bill Clinton makes a cameo appearance.
Whose baby is in the closet of their Caesars Palace suite? How did a tiger get in the bathroom? Why is one of them missing a tooth? And most of all, where is the groom?! Tie one on with the guys of The Hangover and find out. In The Hangover Part II, they boys are back and on their way to exotic Thailand with Doug for Stu's wedding. Stu has opted for a safe, subdued, pre-wedding trip brunch, with pancakes, coffee...and no alcohol. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can't even be imagined. --This text refers to the Blu-ray edition.

Why in the name of god someone would write a 1 star review because of no special features is beyond me.
It is cheaper to buy them separately though.
However, you can get them separately, secondhand for about a third of the cost of this hard to get and generally un-discounted pair. But I wanted the two together - I'd seen part one but not part two.
Having said that though, I was very underwhelmed by the one DVD case that I received and nothing extra than the two discs, part one of which didn't even have its title printed on it.
This does smack of meanness, at least for the money and my overall experience is dented somewhat at not getting my usual online bargain from Amazon. I'd say, think about whether you really want the two together. The DVD distributors are missing a good opportunity by trying hard at putting us off buying them as a set.
It's just that funny, the actors while good actors are not really that funny, quirky, zaney and different but not hilarious.
This film is not hilarious, its no better or that much different to your average zaney american comedy, and in my opinion this is in the camp of below average in not being funny attempts. Yes the concept and the package was a box office success and people have enjoyed, but is it really that funny. Its an average zaney who done what, where, when we were drugged up? funny? Not really.
Well worth buying as they're to be enjoyed again and again.
However saying this I would still recommend this blu ray combo to any comedy lover as this ticks a lot of the boxes required for an entertaining film.
Part 2 is basically the same story but in a different country (Thailand) and it's the same group of blokes but a different one of them is getting married. This time around it's the bride's kid brother who goes missing and it all feels a bit darker and more serious. Personally I liked Part 2 even better than Part 1 as it felt more urgent and original despite the identical story.
I watched the 'Directors Cut' version on Disc 1, and it goes a bit far in places (especially some of the 'baby' scenes) and you can see why parts were cut. However Part 2 is at least in better taste, albeit not for the squeamish.
While there is nothing groundbreaking or amazing here, this is bloody funny stuff. Wholesome, heartfelt and pretty harmless adult entertainment.
'Alan' is the star of both, and for me, he steals the show. Very funny character.
