It doesn't get much better than this. There is approximately 18 top session musicians playing on this CD/DVD. The guys playing on this jazz fusion/ smooth jazz and sort of world music project dont dissapoint great solo work and musicallity and the production values are great too. Theres plenty of good camera work filming in the right places to make the DVD a very immersive experience. The DVD appears to be widescreen 16:9 and is very good in both terms visual and music. It has been marketed as region 0 so it should play on virtually anything. To any one that has followed this kind of music for some time don't hesitate its brilliant but if your quite new to it theres plenty of introductions so that you get to find out who's who. Still not sure have a quick look at some of the titles on You tube i recommend Makossa Beat.

Ecletic electric and smooth 3 Feb 2005

They may not hang together, but you will love how they hang!

The Grusin brothers stamp is all over this, but there are real breakouts from some of Jazz's better artists that make this soup steamy. Nelson Rangell's sax is so clear, Charlie Bisharat's violin takes many cuts to a higher level, and Ritenour plays studio musician to all. Then there's Natali Rene.... I'm in love with her fresh air. If you can sit through her spanish duets with Venezuelan Frank Quintero without wigglin you might as well call it a day. She is wonderful. Oh yes, Patti Austin and Phil Perry remind us that all this latin motion has soulful roots. Up for a grammy and worth the price of admission. Enjoy.

This is one of the best latin-jazz-fusion concert ever! It's a must! I invite you to listen to it. You won't regret it!
What a jam! 19 Oct 2007

This jam is an awesome showcase of talent! The band really cooks through a variety of music, admittedly mostly the Grusin brothers material. If you can get the DVD it's worth it. It was also shown on HDNet on HDTV. If you like modern jazz you'll love this one.

It ain't jazz! 21 Mar 2005
By C. E. Smith - Published on
Format: Audio CD
I may be unfair, but listening to only two samples, I don't like this band's sound. Like a rock band, the percussion section is overpowering. The melody mmy be okay in another key, but still with the drummers so loud it is hard to make out a melody line. A true test of a jazz recording is "Does it swing". This band doesn't. FIRE THE DRUMMERS!!!
