'Be patient with your body - it's the only one you've got!' (Meir Shneider) How true. This book is so practical and sensible, full of exercises you can do to alleviate symptoms and nurture your body back to wellness. Easy to use, it is a book I will use for many years to keep myself well. It has loads of ways you can nip a problem in the bud, by paying attention to your breathing, your moving, making some adjustments to your lifestyle and by dong specific things to alleviate health problems. It encourages self control and personal responsibility for anyone who is suffering from health problems.

You don't need to wear eyeglasses! 9 May 2000

Once in a while, I find a book so unique and so valuable that I tell all my friends and family about it. THE HANDBOOK OF SELF-HEALING is such a book, since it is valuable for everyone wishing to either prevent health problems or regain good health.

Author Meir Schneider cured himself of congenital blindness as a teenager, and discovered many ways to optimize the body's strength, flexibility and sensitivity. He now has a California driver's license, and tells people that they don't need to wear eyeglasses! This book is full of Schneider's wonderful suggestions for improving whole-body health (not just the eyes) through exercises, visualization, meditation, breathing, and stretching (among other things).

This book contains separate sections which provide a wealth of information for people suffering from work, music, computer, or sports-related pains and injuries -- as well as heart problems, headaches, arthritis, back pain, muscular dystrophy, diabetes mellitus, posture problems, polio, multiple sclerosis, and vision problems.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wishing to learn how to help their body be the best it can be!

I can not imagine a more thorough book on rehabilitation regardless of the supposed handicapping condition. Meir has seen and helped and trained others to assist those who appear to be hopelessly handicapped to participate fully in life once again. Having conquered severe blindness (he has an up to date legal drivers permit) to the utter amazement still of all those who examine his eyes and read his history, he went on to learn to educate others about achieving their own individual awareness of their healing path. Any serious student of rehabilitation and those with handicapping conditions cannot afford to miss this book. It will change their lives forever!

An essential reference for those who take full responsibility for their health, fitness, and well-being. Detailed discussions cover all the major body systems-skeletal, muscular, nerves, circulatory,etc.- and many debilitating diseases - osteoporosis, diabetes, among others. The suggestions and exercises are thoroughly explained and illustrated. An empowering work. This book would be a wonderful gift for anyone interested in maintaining and improving their health.
