A great handbook 20 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
I'm still reading this book but happy to say that it's a great book, well written and easily read. There's a good combination of theory (summary only) accompanied by an appropriate example such as an excerpt from a real group play therapy situation. As I'm new in the field it's giving me a good understanding of the considerations, issues and techniques in group play therapy - a great overview. There's chapters on group play therapy from a child-centered therapy approach, gestalt, Jungian, Adlerian, etc. etc. Also chapters on sibling rivalry, etc. art, sandplay work, working with bereaved children, sexually abused children, and so on and so forth. As it says on the subtitle, it tells you how to do it, how it works and whom it's best for. Recommended!

Very good introduction to different Group Play Therapy theories 12 July 2008
By S. Carroll - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Group play therapy is so very different from individual play therapy. This book gives a great overview of different theories of play therapy and what group play therapy is like from the perspective of each theory. I found it very informative. It covers Adlerian, Child Centered, Jungian, and many others. Each theory/chapter is written by an expert in that theory. Having really only studied one theory of Play Therapy, I found this book broadened my knowledge of Play Therapy in general.

Great book on group play therapy 18 Oct 2007
By Sarah B. Connell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a great book with multiple examples of implementing group play therapy with children. However, the examples are not applicable to all populations and situations, so I gave it four stars. One of the few books on group play therapy out there.
