I read 'Splinter of the Mind's Eye' (written in 1977) and to be honest, was less than impressed. So, for obvious reasons I was a bit dubious about these stories written at (roughly) the same time. But when I saw them collected together..., I figured (since I'm a collector) I'd give them a try. BOY WAS I EVER SHOCKED! I discovered that, although there are few links to the modern saga of Star Wars novels, it has by a long shot the best ever characterisation of that dashing rogue that every boy wanted to be when he was a kid, Han Solo. This trilogy doesn't have the scope or rich continuity of A.C Crispin's Han Solo Trilogy, but you really get a sense of these two smugglers being the best in the game. An action packed read.
