5.0 out of 5 stars A great book about a great part of the world 5 Jun 2006
As far as local histories go this is a fantastic book. It is beautifully written and gives the reader a real sense of place. Although all black and white it is really nicely produced with loads of old pictures. It contains lots about the boatbuilding past of the village of Bursledon and of life on a busy river. A must for people who live in the area or family came from there. Also for anyone interested in ship building and yachting it gives insights into some of the more important boats that came from Bursledon (including HMS Elephant - Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Copenhagen). For anyone who doesn't know Bursledon was also the setting for Howard's Way in which it was renamed Tarrant!
