Just like Grudge 2 24 May 2009
Format:DVD
This movie went straight to DVD instead of on cinema release which normally tells you that the movie is considered too bad for general release. However Grudge 3 is not that bad, although if you are looking for a new storyline in the series you will not find it here. The story starts off with Jake the young boy survivor from Grudge 2. He has been hospitalised for his safety and whilst under observation is visited by the lady ghost intent on making him her next victim. The doctor who is treating Jake is badly skaken by what happens to him and she decides to investigate further, leading her to the block of flats where he lived in Chicago.
The flats are now being managed by a young man who is living there with his 2 sisters and the curse of the Grudge moves on to them. Here is where the movie disappointedly becomes an extension of Grudge 2, with the familar shocks and deaths, no new surprises here.
I won't spoil the ending for you by giving away any more of the storyline, except to say that if you guessed what happens next and base it on what happens in Grudge 2, you will have a reasonable chance of getting it right!
So would I recommend this movie? Actually yes, if you enjoyed the first 2 movies and don't mind more of the same, then it is worth giving this movie a go.

If you like the first 2 Grudge films you'll like this the story isn't as interesting as the first two and kind of repetive but the scares suprisingly still get you completly on the edge of your seat even when you know they are coming! I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a nice fright.

the original Ju-on films and even the american remakes were masterpieces well written, directed, acted and truly scary and to associate this film with them is a insult,America has yet again destroyed ,like so many of my favourite asian horrors Dark Water,Ringu and One Missed Call a brilliant idea and exploited it.To me there is no surprise that the original japanese acting talents of Takako Fuji (Kayako) and Yuya Ozeki (Toshio) wanted nothing to do with this cheap cash in.
The film is written by the original writer Takashi Shimizu but in no way bears the same dark vengeful presence of the earlier film instead of being set in a house heavy with the dark atmosphere of Takeo's crime we are reintroduced to the filthy walls of a hotel situated in downtown Chigago the setting for the family massacre of grudge 2 who sole survivor Jake is now hospitalised in a mental institution under the watchful eye of Dr Sullivan (Shawnee Smith) who does not believe that he is haunted by Toshio and Kayako, it is only when Jake is found dead in this cell with all his bones broken seemingly by unseen hands the hapless doctor sees it necessary to investigate his story.
The hotel is run by Max and his two sisters Lisa and little Rose and as ever strange things start to occur in the hotel including sightings of Toshio played badly by a much older and taller boy than Yuya Ozeki and so continuity between this and the other two films is rather jarring. Lisa steals the key for the massacre flat 305 to have sex with her boyfriend ade all the time feeling as thought they are being watched. Meanwhile a non for mentioned sister of Kayako, Naoko leaves Tokyo for Chigago to put an end to the curse of Kayoto once and for all enlisting the help of Lisa and Rose in her quest who at first is refused until the evil spirit of Takeo possesses Max and they find her and form a united front to put and end to the 'grudge'
This film is badly acted badly written no wonder Sam Raimi washed his hands of it with the starring roles been filled by inadequate actors fumbling along with a bad storyline directed by Toby Wilkins who brought us scooby doo 2 and cats and dogs who let this philistine near a horror film ? or the b movie king brad king known for gravedancers and from within(if you dont recognise these films its ok your not missing much) In the Sam Raimi interpretation nobody compromised not raimi or shimizu and they were amazing as good as the originals even having the satisfaction that smug cow sarah michelle gellar finally got killed not pleasure felt since scream 2 although seeing shawnee smith the stupid saw whore getting killed in this film was a close second indeed proberly the only good bit in the entire movie apart from seeing the much loved face of Marina Sirtis as 'Gretchen' barely recognisable from her time as sex siren 'Deana Troi' from star trek. If u must own the trilogy then it looks good on your shelf but otherwise as stephen king said in christine 'its a turd with a ribbon wrapped round it'
