Product Description

Product Description

For many people, the TVR Griffith and Chimaera are their dream cars, combining drop dead looks with power and performance for not much more money than a top of the range saloon car. They have quickly established themselves as classics within just a few years.

This extensively revised second editionis written for Griffith and Chimaera owners and prospective owners, TVR enthusiasts and anyone else interested in TVRs. It provides a source of material derived from the author's own experiences of owning eight TVRs, including two Griffith 500, the TVR Car Club archives and information from TVR. This edition has been extensively revised and now contains over 400 pages of information on maintaining and enjoying these cars.

It covers all the production models, ranging from the 4.x litre Griffiths, the Griffith 500 and the Chimaeras. Each chapter covers a particular aspect of the car and combines explanations and descriptions, along with hints and tips on how to enjoy and maintain the cars at their best. The practical text is extensively illustrated with photographs and drawings, drawn from the archives of TVR, the TVR Car Club and the author's own collection.

Format:Paperback
Steve Heath has done a fabulous job of drawing together pearls of wisdom from owners, mechanics and TVR themselves to present the definitive book about TVR's contemporary Rover - derived V8 sports cars. This book is invaluable to any owner or would-be owner of TVR Griffith and Chimaera cars. As well as technical information, Steve recounts the history of these cars, the process of their manufacture and explains general automotive maintenance. As a result, this book is suitable for the general enthusiast as well as owners.

Steve's book is well-written in a simple style, and is fully accompanied by his own excellent photographs of both maintenance and restorative tasks. All aspects of the cars are discussed, including driving experiences, companies and organisations, buying a car, maintenance, and detailed discussions of all parts and systems. There is a reasonable index (perhaps one of the weaker parts) and the book is bound in a reference-friendly spiral binding.

This book is vital for all Griffith and Chimaera owners, and also valuable to owners of other TVR sports cars (due to similar heritage). It is also a great book for all sports car enthusiasts. I highly reccomend this book.

Steve Heath disects the phenomenon that is a modern TVR and lays it bare for all to understand. He has gathered a wealth of information together from the factory, from other drivers and through his own experience and laid it on the table for layman and mechanic alike.

Not only an accessible text, but also presented in a format which cries out to be used. If there is anything you need to know, chances are you'll find it here - accepting that it was published before the last of the Griffs rolled of the production line.

All bound up in Steve's cheery style - he even documents the part that the chairman's dog, Ned, has had in determining the course of the mighty TVR.

A good read AND everything you need to know, could you want more?
