Silja is best known as the columnist for Spirit & Destiny's Practical Magic pages.
Following on from The Green Wiccan Year and The Green Wiccan Herbal, The Green Wiccan Book of Shadows explores the craft from many angles and breaks each stage down into managable chunks. This book is a great starting point for those new to Wicca and a nice book to read for those with more experience. This book has something to offer everyone, Silja explores magical theory and practice such as ethics, different pagan paths, the elements and different Wiccan traditions.
Silja breaks down the stages of magic, and how to craft your own successful spells and rituals. The spells in the
book are categorized for love, money and work, luck and justice, home and relationship, health and other spells. Each spell is beautifully written and easy to follow and involving ingredients which can be obtained with ease. She includes tables of correspondences at the back of the book as well as further reading suggestions, which provides an excellent foundation for starting on a spiritual path.
Within the pages of the book, Silja also includes useful tips and information for working magic and there is a chapter about joining or starting your very own coven, or study group.
I give this book 5 out of 5 :)
I particularly enjoyed reading about different types of meditations and vision quests, and Silja provides tips for creating your own meditations as well.
Another thing I love about this book is that Silja encourages the reader to do what feels comfortable for them, and explains there is no one right way to practice the craft - it is up to each individual to find what works best for them.
The artwork throughout the pages is lovely and adds to the fun and fresh vibe of this book, I would recommend this to anyone and will be definitely revisit this book.
