I have the original Green Man without the 5 bonus tracks, which I have as singles. Good move to re-release Mark's first album, timed with his new album In Your Own Time. In comparison, Green Man was Mark's first solo offering, and he seemed to want to get as far away from Take That as he could, showing us what he likes to listen to himself, and the songs he was writing. I would have preferred Confused and Home to replace a couple of songs from Green Man, as I think they're better but hearing them all together like this IS a bonus. The 6 year gap to his next album shows he's mellowed a bit and gone back to his pop roots. Green Man is quite "hippy" and he's said himself sounds like he's experimenting with his songs. Pleased to have it in my collection.

Mark Owen's first album seemed very different from the 1990's Take That tracks that had come before, but listening to it now, it becomes obvious of the impact Mark has had in writing tracks on the two most recent Take That albums. Personally I prefer both his two later solo albums, but Green Man is still a record that documents Mark's progress as both a performer and a songwriter.

This was the first album after Mark went solo. It has classics such as Clementine and Child (which he still sings live). As well as lesser knowwn beauties such as I am what I am, Ask him to, Are you with me, Secondhand Wonderland as well as the opening track Greenman - with it's instantly reconisable opening bars!
He has come a long way both musically and lyrically since this album, but it still holds it's own. To me it encapsulates a time when he was still trying to discover his own style - something which he has managed to do now with great aplomb!
A must have for your growing Mark Owen collection !!

Mark Owen
To be honest prefer Mark as part of Take That. I bought this to see what he was like on his own. I am not disappointed at all - just takes a little getting used to.
