Product Description

'One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that food can prevent and treat disease.' The evidence is out there: lifestyle disorders such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease; chronic inflammatory diseases such as asthma or rheumatic illnesses; female infertility; cancer - all have a great deal to do with the kind of food we eat. Dr Lindberg, who runs a state-of-the-art clinic offering patients multidisciplinary treatment for these degenerative disorders, shows you how to change your lifestyle so you can control your weight and your blood sugar, and improve your overall health. Returning to his Greek roots, he advocates eating natural foods and keeping a close eye on the Glycaemic Index. His exposition of current scientific thinking is fascinating and his recipes are at the most delicious end of the 'Mediterranean diet' spectrum. Buy, understand, eat and enjoy the healthy life!

About the Author

Dr Fedon Alexander Lindberg was born in Greece where he learned to appreciate the good things of life. A genetic propensity to diabetes in his family led him to become a specialist in internal medicine and endocrine disorders. He now runs a hugely successful clinic in Oslo; this is his first book - and it has already made him a household name in Norway.

I've Seen The Light! 10 July 2007
Format:Paperback
This book has been a bit of a revolution. I have tried many diets including calorie controlled, Atkins, Weetabix (yes it does exist) and have always headed the same way after a couple of weeks or (if lucky) a couple of months. The Greek Diet isn't really a diet for losing weight and then reverting back to old habits, its a whole new way of eating which keeps you feeling full, healthy and your tastebuds tingling day after day. The only negative is that the book hasn't really got many recipes which is why I highly recommend purchasing his accompanying book with 100 recipes in. Don't think this is just another fad, this really does have the potential to change your life and your families, it did mine and I believe it will continue.

I've been on a diet for at least 35 years and tried every diet going, buying all the latest gimics I've at last found a way of eating that is sustainable, increases energy and aids sustained weight loss. I feel great and I'm not hungry.

What a change a diet the recognises you have human failings ... a new way of eating good wholesome food without feeling hungry ... with excellent explanations of why diets don't work ... and why this one does!

Dr Lindberg uses the latest medical research studies to back up his recommendations ... which explain why the western way of eating is leading to increased heart disease, diabetes and other chronic illnesses.

For all of you failed dieters who don't hardly eat and don't know where to turn next ...BUY IT ... ITS WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT!

PS I've never left a review on Amazon before and I've bought plenty! But I feel so strongly I want to tell you all about this way of eating!

The best GI-GL diet book 14 April 2005
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
If you want to start a diet based on the Glycemic index or glycemic load principle this book is wonderful. FActs are explained in a very comprehensive way, other types of diets are mentioned and the reason why they don't work in the long run.
What I like about this book and what makes it different than the many other diet books in the market is its medical back up taken down to the layman's level.
There's a mention of the slow-carb revolution, hormonal balance, metabolism, dietary supplements and whether we need them, glycaemic load lists, the diet per se, a four week menu plan, good simple recipes and glycaemic load lists.
