Yet Another 'Top Western Movies' Book!

Since 1994, AMERICAN COWBOY magazine has established a reputation for publishing in-depth, appealing and well-illustrated articles on the Wild West. THE 100 GREATEST WESTERN MOVIES OF ALL TIME INCLUDING FIVE YOU NEVER HEARD OF, compiled by the editors of AMERICAN COWBOY, is their attempt to arrive at a listing of the 'Best of the Best' Western flicks ever made. Whether you agree with their choices or the order of listing, 100 GREATEST WESTERN MOVIES OF ALL TIME makes for interesting reading.
Truth be told, there aren't all that many surprises in this 2011 Morris Book Publishing release. Most of the 'usual suspects' are here: THE SEARCHERS, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, SHANE, FORT APACHE, RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY, THE PLAINSMAN, UNFORGIVEN, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, RUN OF THE ARROW, THE GUNFIGHTER, THE OX-BOW INCIDENT, MY DARLING CLEMENTINE, etc. It's heartening to see some of my recent, personal favorites such as THE SHOOTIST and OPEN RANGE listed. And it's a bit surprising to see flicks like NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and the Bob-Hope comedy PALFACE included but, what the heck, it's AMERICAN COWBOY'S listing and they're entitled to their opinion.
Along with the film write-ups, THE 100 GREATEST WESTERN MOVIES OF ALL TIME includes several interesting side-bars: Jesse James Movies, 12 Honorable Mention films, Famous Western Movie Locations, Spaghetti Westerns, the 10 Greatest Gunfighter Movies of All Time, an article on 'The Art and Chaos of Gunfights,' Sci-Fi/Fantasy Westerns, etc.
Western Movie buffs will enjoy this informed and informative "Best of" book. It's an appealing overview of some classic films that have thrilled audiences over the years. Recommended.

So much potential.

Interesting concept, but... Could some one please proof read Kindle editions! Grammar errors in publications costing this much are unacceptable. I expected more than just a short synopsis of each movie which can be found in multiple other places. However, the limited photographs were nice and I enjoyed the list of movies. Therefore, I would not recommend the Kindle edition.

I chose this book for a friend of mine who loves Western movies. I had just given him a DVD player, and chose this book to help him select some old movies he might want to see again. He loved it.
