This is ballsy stuff. Like opening your front door by headbutting it untill it splinters to pieces on your forehead. Like benchpressing a tank.
Its understandable if your first impressions are that of a joke band, something cashing in on a comical status. You'd be very wrong and find yourself passing up on one of the best (and original) albums in a good long while. Deep, heroic lyrics of daring deeds with some stunning guitar riffs and awesome bass.
Simply put, without this your weak like marshmellow.

The idea of this band may seem a bit gimmicky to some of you choir boys out there. But the songs arent about arnie!!! HE ripped off austrian folk lore , and these boys are telling it how it is.
THis albun is actually F#cking good - some great riffs in there, and the arnie impressions are like the best
Basically if you want to be a hero, buy it.. Its 8 quid, and its so much better than all these average bands that are pumping out at us from all directions with a somewhat similar sound ( the rakes for one - is that AVERAGE or what?)
Generally heroic mofo's
Great album

What we have here is a band that has happened upon a very interesting formula. Arnocorps are a band that is influenced by ancient Austrian tales, tales of heroes that have been passed down from generation to generation. These tales have also been snapped up by big-budget Hollywood and turned into nothing but money makers, lacking heart. Arnocorps are here to change this general perception about Austrian folklore for the better.

This album is fantastic, I will try and give that statement as much justification as I can. The songs are catchy, the music is energized and the whole album gives you that pumped up Arnocorps feeling.

When the album was recorded the band consisted of six members, two guitar, two bass, drums and vocals. The combination of the two bass/guitar works extremely well, especially in a live setting. Often when I listen to this album I notice allot of the music almost sounds "stock", what I mean by that is that it sounds simple, uncomplicated, I have no doubt the band are talented musicians but what is played on the album, bar a few solos comes across as something a amateur player could produce. This is in no way a bad thing, it's this simplicity, combined with Holzfeuer's powerful vocals, that makes this album what it is - exciting and uplifting.

The band also play an awesome live show, audience participation is paramount. The crowd is encouraged to sing along, exercise and apply camo face paint before a show.

I will be truthful in my review, the only problem I had with this album is that it starts out great, during the third quarter the album slumps slightly but the final track, Last Action Hero is possibly the height of the album and a great way to end it.

Stars wise, I'd give this album 4.

Austrian folklore reclaimed from those pencil pushers in Hollywood! Truly epic and inspiring, right there! GET DOWN to some fantastic tunes, exactly. And then go to every gig they play. You WILL build quality mass in the biceps!
