Product Description

Hope stars as Freddie Hunter, a reporter who is chaperoning a troop of scouts aboard an exotic ocean liner. However, Freddie would rather pay attention to Duchess Alexandria than to his scouts. But Freddie has more to be concerned with than his scouts and the Duchess - a homicidal gambler looking to frame him for his murderous deeds.

If you enjoy the subtleties of good old fashioned classic comedy then you cannot go wrong with this classic comic murder mystery. Bob Hope is at his wise cracking, genius best.

He is stuck on a boat as the leader of a group of young boys who are looking to him for moral guidance. He meets and falls in love with a girl and the rest is hilarious. During his courtship in secret, he is framed for murder. What do you do on a boat if you are trying to avoid capture/ Who do you trust? How do you prove your innocence?

The film needs to be seen.

This is a really funny film, one of Bob Hope's best, with a great script and some great one-liners. The performances all round are excellent and I would normally rate the film 5 stars.

However my enjoyment of the movie was ruined by the poor quality of the picture. Don't be fooled by the pin-sharp image of Bob Hope and Rhonda Fleming on the DVD cover. The overall film quality is poor and at times it is truly appalling.

So many old movies that are now available on DVD are of superb picture quality even without any digital enhancement. If an original print is not up to scratch, is the cost of improving it really so prohibitive that some production companies simply churn out the likes of this?

Whilst the gags come fairly thick and fast in this movie, to me it wasn't quite up to the usual Bob Hope standard. Amusing enough though.
