After going to several live concerts from the band Krisiun and having bought almost their all discography this album comes as a good refresh at this point in their career. Yes it is true, they can sound very relentless at times with their brutal scale progression, loop riffs and blast beats, however since the last two albums they have moved, in my opinion, to a more death_groove side of their sound (no it does not sound like Entombed). 'The Great Execution' album has diversity, with great catchy, fast and very fast moments. All the elements are in good measure, without any sense of song deja vu or even 'riff recognition' like in some of their early efforts. Memorable moments: the song 'Blood of Lions' starts with a slow mid pounding intro moving quickly to fast and then back to mid tempo, this rhythm changes lets the riff cut through the noise wall and sound dirty and fleshy in the context of the track. Extincao em Massa is a killer song. It features special guest Joao Gordo from Brazilian hardcore band Ratos de Porao. The song is very fast and sang with a great sense of urgency and intensity. The lyrics are a bit tongue in cheek. Actually as a critic the whole album is on the the same safe death metal lyrical content. Overall 'The Great Execution' is a fantastic album with catchier songs, bolder song structure (without speed compromise) and greater than its predecessor in song writing diversity and rhythm. Highly recommend it for death metal fans or trash metal dudes that want to expand their horizons.
