Product Description

Product Description

The notion that cholesterol and saturated fat cause heart disease is one of the most fundamental tenets of modern medicine. It is also completely false. In "The Great Cholesterol Con" you will learn that: Heart disease is not caused by saturated fat nor elevated blood cholesterol; People with low cholesterol levels live shorter lives; Populations consuming high saturated fat diets often enjoy very low rates of heart disease; Many dietary recommendations made by 'experts' to reduce heart disease have actually been shown in animal and human studies to increase heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity; The primary force behind the anti-cholesterol paradigm is not public health, but profit! This meticulously researched book mercilessly demolishes what may well be the biggest and most successful scam in the history of medicine. Most importantly, you'll discover what really promotes heart disease and what you can do to prevent it!

I have read both this book and Dr. Malcolm Kendrick's (same title). While I found Dr. Kendrick's an easier read, I believe Mr. Colpo's better value for money - even at 3 times the price. Let's face it, both together don't come up to the cost of 1 month's prescription of Lipitor! Anthony Colpo's book covers the same subject, and comes to same conclusions as Dr. Kendrick's, but provides an extensive bibliography and far more detail into the solution/treatment/life-style changes needed to combat CHD.

Colpo follows Uffe Ravnskov (who wrote the foreword) with a superb book. If you want the truth, evidence, clear advice then this is the book. I have no connection with this book financially or otherwise except that I bought it. After four years following Ravnskov's book I speak from experience.

Answer this question: Do you want to live and be healthy or play about with shallow and fashionable ideas. If the former then look no further.

Thank you Uffe Ravnskov and Anthony Colpo. With a bit of effort from me and a lot of iconoclasm and rejection of fashionable dietary advice you gave me my life and health back.

Highly recommended 11 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
After suffering some serious side effects from statins, and giving them up, I found this book immensely reassuring, helpful, and wholly persuasive. Until and unless I read a convincing rebuttal, I have stopped worrying about cholesterol levels.
