The BBC Earth series of book consistently publish good quality books and this is no exception. Filled with vivid images each one with its own notes and with enough text to enhance your understanding of this beautiful natural wonder. It is an ideal accompaniment to the series of the same name.

The book comes with a fold out map to give you an idea of the locations. Then the book has 7 chapters covering the geography, plants, animals and environment.

I am unlikely to ever have the opportunity to visit the reef, so this and the TV series is about as good as I am going to get it!

As I say with all books of this type; don't overlook the Amazon market place, these books tend to only get read once and so you can pick up some good bargain books in good condition.

The photos are amazing and my friend who the book was for is now as inspired as I hoped she'd be about her trip to Oz. Interesting details about different aspects of the Reef are given and the map included is very useful.

Superb accompaniment to the BBC series. Gave me a far deeper understanding of the totality of the reef's eco system and the threats to its survival.
