The Grateful Dead Movie is the legendary documentary and live concert directed by Jerry Garcia. Capturing the band at the height of their success at San Francisco s Winter Ballroom in 1974, this end-of-tour run marked the beginning of an extended hiatus for the band, successfully portraying the burgeoning Deadhead scene. Transferred from the original 35mm film negative in high definition and presented in 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ratio, this Blu-Ray special edition contains a bonus DVD disc packed full of extras.

Just to balance out the other review.
This has to be the definitive Dead movie which is unsurprising since it was painstakingly put together by Garcia himself. Every minute is great and there are a host of extras included that aren't part of the movie itself. If you don't already have a copy it's an absolute steal at this price. What are you waiting for?!

This blu-ray uk edition has the video encoded in PAL 720x576, instead of hd 1920x1080,like the u.s. region 1 edition. I already had the "old" dvd edition, which actually has the same audio/video quality. A waste of money. (1 star for the product, 5 stars for the film and the great music,of course)
