What a superb book for Lent! This beats most of the other tired old stuff hands down! Forget about revered clerics and Archbishop's selections which I never find satisfy and nourish our faith. This little book is a treasure and has great depth. I've got the Kindle edition and read a section a day commuting on the train.... delightful. Each section has a short extract from Mole and Raty's exploits, followed by a "parallel" extract from the Gospels. Then a Meditation section in which the author- oh so thoughtfully- relates the Wind in the Willows to the Gospel - and then relates both to the reader (or in my case Reader).
Absoloutely first class- by far and away the best Lent read I've had ... well ever!

Brilliant! 7 April 2011
Format:Paperback
I have alway loved The Wind in the Willows and the way it is woven into the Gospel stories is so very moving. By far the best daily readings and meditation book I have ever read.

Now this IS a book I would recommend you to get. I love "Wind in the Willows" and am delighted to have discovered this book.

It is really good the way that the writer, an Anglican priest, has made use of portions from Kenneth Grahame's book to bring out important things in Gospel passages in his meditations based on their dialogue together and finishing with an appropriate prayer.

He has a very good writing style himself and the book is clearly the result of many years of sharing the good news of the Gospel, including in using illustrations from Mole, Ratty, Toad and companies lives.

It is a real pity that it is described in some places as a "Lent book", this always puts me off at least, because although it would suit a daily reading through that period, it is well worth reading at any time.
