Book Description

No discovery since the Dead Sea Scrolls has rocked the Christian world like that of the newly translated "Gospel of Judas." The story presented in the short but powerful text reveals a plan in which heavenly ends justified monstrous means. Betrayal became collaboration and murder resembled suicide as Jesus and Judas began a macabre dance into eternity. Orthodox Christianity has its doctrine, its canon, and its political story, but these are quite different from those exposed in the Gospel of Judas. Imagine Judas, the man all of Christendom has hated for two thousand years, now portrayed as the chosen one, the martyr, the scapegoat, and the man instructed and appointed by Jesus himself to orchestrate and carry out the greatest treachery of all time. Come with us as we explore the Gospel of Judas. We will attempt to fill the gaps in the text and the theology. We will compare and contrast the Gospel of Judas with the biblical accounts. We will examine the man, his history, and his story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Those unsettling questions 10 Mar. 2013
By James - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
Did you ever have those unsettling questions that are the result of the orthodox Christian explanation for everything? Did you ever have that nagging feeling that what you were being told wasn't the whole story? Have you ever experienced a "divine discontent" with everything that leaves you questioning is that all there is? If you answered yes to any of the above your answers are in this book and you won't have to read far to find them. Lumpkin is phenomenal!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BOOK I'VE READ ON THE SUBJECT! 30 July 2007
By J. E. Lindsey - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The presentation of information flows logically and holds together from the first page until the last. This book has helped me and will help others too, to more clearly understand gnostic thoughts and how they continue to influence our churches of today.

This book is well worth the time to read.

I had not heard of this book until recently. I have not finished it yet but I find it thought provoking and may decide to use it as a book for a group I facilitate.
