BE WARNED! 23 May 2009
Format:DVD
I am very grateful to the other reviewers for pointing out the scandalous cuts made in the "Optimum Home Entertainment" release of this classic film; I have certainly avoided wasting my money on it! Unfortunately the previous VHS release (DD Home Entertainment) also suffers from these pointless cuts, so presumably the same print was used.
Hopefully the full version will appear on TV soon...

By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
This is an absolute classic of wartime comedy. Will Hay, Charles Hawtery and Peter Ustinov all on great form. I would, under normal circumstances, give this film 5 out of 5 but I have just purchased a copy and found that two of the funniest scenes in the film have been cut from this print. The two scenes are the pronunciation of British towns (Slough, Cirencester etc) and the 'Invasion of Britain' scene on the train (Panzers down in the Severn Tunnel etc.). So my advice would be definitely see this film but save your money and wait for it to be shown on television.

POINTLESS 26 Feb 2009
Format:DVD
A total rip off , do not spend your hard earned money on this utterly pointless release of what is a fabulous film in its original length , whoever is responsible for cutting it to ribbons has no idea of the comic genius this country once produced.

What a load of old pap. The Germans have British accents and are made out to look silly in ridiculous propaganda nonsense which is just not funny, unlike Hay's earlier classic... Read more

Not the Full Movie
This was a good film, make no mistake. However, the producer decided to butcher it slightly and missed some classic scenes that is why the DVD lasts around 66 mins. Read more

My first war propaganda film
I remember 'The Goose Steps Out' from over 40 years ago. I remember it mainly for three reasons: it's unusual film title, which I still don't understand; the British actor Will Hay... Read more

Who is responsible - bring them to me!
I'm certainly not going to blow good money on a butchered masterpiece. I concur with those who have obviously been bitterly disappointed - indeed I would go so far as to say... Read more
