Although published in 1977, this is still an essential, inexpensive, and eminently readable book for any lover of the Goon Shows of the 1950s. For me, the prime value is in the chronological listing of all the Goon Shows broadcast between 1951 and 1960 plus the repeat broadcasts and Transcription Services which, between them, extended well into the 1970s. Members of the Goon Show Preservation Society will be well aware of this book but for any others it will be an introduction into the background of probably the most influential radio comedy series of its era.
