The Goon Show was revolutionary in its day and laid the foundations for comedy greats like Monty Python to aspire to. And even 50 years on its still very, very funny. Spike Milligan's scripts are surrealism taken to the extreme and the adventures of Neddy Seagoon, Bluebottle and the rest have always had me in fits of laughter. This collection is no different and all 4 episodes are of high quality, continuing the trend set by the previous BBC releases. The only irritation I find about this audiobook are the musical interludes during the shows which I find terribly boring. Surely this time could have been used to fit in more gags! But this is a minor niggle and some of the songs are mildly catchy so this still gets five stars. Go on, let go of reality for half an hour and laugh yourself silly.
