Excellent set of 4 original Goon Show episodes, including what is possibly my personal favourite, "The Man Who Never Was". The CDs have been carefully mastered and include snippets of dialogue restored to the recordings that were cut from previously-available editions (a by-product of the fact that many original shows were not archived properly at the time). These additions are not exactly sensational and hardly justify the excitable "Includes prevously unreleased material!!" line on the CD case, but the shows are now as Messrs Milligan, Sellers and Secombe intended.
Just a note for anoraks: I'm pretty sure "The Man Who Never Was" is the 1956 version, not the 1958 remake as stated in the CD booklet. It includes Harry Secombe getting the line "In each boot" spoonerized as "In ooch beat"(!).

To be honest you have to have grown up listening to the goons on the radio or you maybe have to be slightly mad if you find them and enjoy the crazy humour but they are well worth a listen

I am a huge Goon fan and have been replacing all my tapes of the Goon shows with CDs, and I have to say that the difference in sound quality between my old tapes and the CDs is wonderful.
The stories are great, as you would expect from the Goons, and the quality is excellent. I would highly recommend these tapes. The one thing I would say is that the stories on the tapes are not in the same order as they are on the CDs. However, this is not a problem as all the episodes are on all the CDs, but not necessarily in the same order.
