Book Description

Forget What You Know About Google SEO!

In April, 2011 Google implemented the Google Panda filter which fundamentally changed Google SEO.

In the old world, google assessed the quality of the site - looking at tags, links, content and other site based metrics.

In the new world, google assesses the user experience - looking at what your users actually do when they come to your site.

This is a fundamental shift that, if you don't make immediate and meaningful changes to your site, can take you from a well-ranked site to not showing up at all for your search terms, overnight.

Pick up this book and learn about the changes and how you can make a few simple changes to your site and your SEO approach to survive and thrive in the New Google Search.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great information! Less-than-great presentation. 14 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a beginner in the world of SEO, I found the information in this book absolutely invaluable. It's really helped me get to grips with the subject. Before reading this book, my response to SEO was, "That's something to do with keywords, right?" Today, I sold my first website pitch.

It's not an exhaustive guide to Google Panda, but where it is thin on information it is always quick to let you know where the information is available and it's a fantastic introduction to the system and how to get to grips with it.

The English and proof-reading are a way from perfect, in my opinion, but not to the extent that it makes the information difficult to process.

All in all, WELL worth the money. I felt much more confident going on to learn more and to implement what I'd learnt having read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A short but useful read 11 Jun. 2014

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Only just got round to reading this although I purchased it back in 2012, when it was quite a bit cheaper I may add. Couldn't sleep last night so searching through my extensive kindle library in the hope of boring myself to sleep I found this title. Unfortunately, it didn't have the requisite effect and I read it all, and then still couldn't sleep as I was reviewing in head how closely my websites aligned with the advice given in the book. In the interim since purchasing and reading this title I have studied the subject somewhat at length but even though I already knew all of the advice given or thought I did, it always helps to review the basics from time to time, and this book does that in a succinct and easy digestible way.

As the subtitle suggests, the intention is give an overview of the Google panda and penquin updates and what you need to do to ensure you are not adversely effected but it also gives a very good overview of what you should be aiming for in your SEO approach generally. You only need a very basic knowledge and understanding of how Google is all-powerful in deciding your online success or otherwise to get the best from this short book. If you are a seasoned old hand at SEO then you should already know the implications of Panda and Penguin by now, and so I would recommend this book to anybody just getting into the subject or with some knowledge as an inexpensive and timely reminder of the fundamental principles to help get your site high in SERPs.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great place to start with Panda 1 Aug. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a really helpful book that gives a clear idea about where Google is going with it's Panda update. The no nonsense advice Kathleen gives really helps focus on what to do if you've found Panda has effected your website and what you should do if you're building a site and what it to be Panda friendly.

Thanks Kathleen!

Far too much talk about how useful it is and very little actual advice. It should have been so much better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick read, good info 26 Jun. 2012

This succinctly written ebook contains information that helps get a website back on track for SEO for Google. It compares how SEO used to work with the fundamental change that occurred with the implementation of the Panda filter software. Layman friendly, McDivitt's book is clear and easy to understand. I have a much better grasp of how Google ranking works since reading it. I was a little surprised that it is a short ebook, and I feel McDivitt could have gone further in depth. Even so, it's a good introduction to Panda SEO and offers additional resources online throughout the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short and to the point 25 Nov. 2012

When I started reading, the only thing I knew was what the acronym, SEO, stood for. After reading this book, I understand the broad concept as to how SEO optimization works, what back links are, etc. not only that, I now understand why a business who has a presence online need to understand information like this. So I think this is great even for a beginners.

Even if you never picked up a Web 2.0 book, but you have a business and just a website, it would be informative for you. If your experienced webmaster, but don't have time to figure out how google panda's different, this could help too, I think....but I'm no professional in this area. But given the sale price, it might be worth it.

It's a quick read that does what it says, to tell you how google has changed it's way of ranking your pages. That's it. Some reviewer has said it's poorly edited, and they are right. And Sometimes I have to look up web vocab on wiki, but given the cheap price that I got it for and the valuable information, it's a 5 star for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good information, but poorly edited and confusing in spots 15 July 2012
By David A Dufour - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
While this book has some good information, I found myself scratching my head in some places. For instance, in the example for using Google's keyword research tool, she suggests "you go to 5 of you (sic) competitors and you type in "leadership training" and you find out which 5 competitors come up first." Huh? How do I "type in" at five competitors' websites? What got left out here that I don't understand? It's apparent the book isn't very well edited (probably not edited at all). Ok as an intro, but needs a little more clarity (and less wordiness) throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Panda explained and what to do to get top ranking again. 11 April 2012
By scottz - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you have followed SEO over the last year you have no doubt heard of Googles Panda update. Over the last year thousands of sites have lost their ranking to the update with no idea where to go.

The New Google SEO does a wonderful job explaining what the Panda update is and what you can do to get your site to the top of the search engines. The book is a quick read that does a great job explaining what the Panda update wants from a website now and what you can do to your website to make Google take notice.

Gone are the days of building as many junk backlinks to your site as possible and watching it rise. Although that was easy the new requirements for top ranking really aren't that bad and are simple to implement as explained in this book.

If you want top ranking I highly recommend The New Google Seo and its simple to understand step by step plan to get your website the google love it deserves.
