1.0 out of 5 stars The Not-Very-Good Shepherd 16 April 2007
I usually like Christian Slater but I fear this film is not one he'll look back on with any pride. He plays a not-very convincing priest who's investigating a murder. The acting is wooden, the characters are one-dimensional but the real sin is the plot. It's certainly not heaven-sent. And I wonder how many people will rent this film thinking it is the Oscar-winning Good Shepherd. I did! How's that for a confession, Father!

2.0 out of 5 stars nothing brilliant 21 May 2006
By Pius
This is OK as a tv movie - the ending is pretty sudden and unexpected - since they didn't give us any clues to who did do it. Mindless viewing to pass the time with. As far as the religious content is concerned it is pretty orthodox, treating the Church with respect.

3.0 out of 5 stars Typical priest becomes detective thriller 18 Jun 2006
A man is found dead and a priest is arrested for the his murder. The local bishops send in one of their fundraisers (Slater) to manage the PR for the church. He soon becomes convinced that the priest in question was innocent and starts digging.

The film has average acting, script, etc. The twists are predictable (and if you fail to predict one you're unsurprised when it happens). It's a too-typical thriller -- OK if you don't expect much.
