"THE GOOD FATHER is a chilling and provocative story that will force you to think about an issue that, until now, hasn't gotten nearly enough attention." - #1 New York Times Bestselling author GLENN BECK How Far Would You go to Save the Life of Your Unborn Child? Tommy and Mary knew they were perfect for each other. They fell in love and were immediately drawn into a relationship of intense emotions, passion and intimacy. They were going to spend their whole lives together. Until Mary got pregnant and, not ready to be a mother, decided to terminate the pregnancy. Now she awakes in a dank, blue-painted room in an old house, her captor the last person she ever expected-Tommy. Threatened with death, torture, and abuse, Tommy decides to hold her captive until he can become what he's always dreamt of: a good father. No matter what the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thinking Person's Suspense Thriller 4 Jan 2013
By B. Kenny - Published on Amazon.com
I love a good suspenseful story that also makes me think. This novel delivers on both counts... and then some. When I first started reading "The Good Father," I was immediately impressed by the quality of the writing. Before long I was immersed in the original storyline and feeling completely conflicted about the some of the ethical situations it presents. It's been a few weeks since I finished the book and I find myself still thinking about it and wondering.... That's why I'm compelled to write this review - perhaps hoping I can find others to discuss the book with. Read it and you'll see what I mean.

I was dreading the ending while reading this book, but the author handled the end very well. Very different; very interesting book. My sympathy went to Tommy most of the time. I would definitely recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars On the Cusp of Principle and Terror 10 Jan 2013
By lit chick - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
This story takes place at the point where ethics and principle become obsession and violation. Tommy wants to be a father. His girlfriend Mary is not ready to become a mother. He does not think that decision belongs entirely with her, and he kidnaps and restrains her in order to stop her termination of the pregnancy. This story is gripping and thoughtful. At times had mixed feelings about who to root for. It is hard to put down -- as are the thoughts about it I've had subsequently. It is a rewarding read.
5.0 out of 5 stars William Payton's THE GOOD FATHER Is A Novel You Won't Soon Forget 21 July 2013

The God-given gift of Choice is one of those things that people can use for the good as well as the bad. Think about it: when we are making decisions that have to do with us or others, it all begins with how we look at the choice. Are we living just for ourselves or is there more to consider? In THE GOOD FATHER by author William Payton we have a book that is really all about the gift and curse of Choice, and how the characters we meet us it.

Tommy and Mary could be a couple like most that we see today. Each one wanting to be happy and are in love, but when Mary discovers she is pregnant it sets off a chain reaction that leads them both to a series of events that will keep you hooked until the very end. Is Mary selfish for wanting to wait until she feels ready for a family, or is Tommy being unrealistic and selfish in his quest to be the good father? These are the questions you will ask, as well as how far are you willing to go to have what you feel is rightfully yours.

There is another aspect of the book that I wasn't expecting, and that is the question of whether the sins of the father or mother will naturally become those of the offspring. It happened with Adam and Eve. Is it true in our case as well?

Gripping in its appeal and seductive in its delivery, THE GOOD FATHER is a novel you won't soon forget.
