Book Description

13 April 2007
"The Good Fairies of New York" tells the fish-out-of-water story of two Scottish thistle fairies who find themselves in Manhattan. The fairies hook up with two humans, Kerry (complete with colostomy bag) and Dinnie (antisocial in the extreme), finding time to help both get their acts together. A book that brings together race riots and Scottish folklore, "The Good Fairies of New York" is anything but a typical fairy fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece! 28 Feb 2006
By kehs TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
This is a fantastic book that should never have been allowed to go out of print. The two main fairies are banished from Scotland and end up in New York where they cause chaos by declaring open warfare amongst the fairy community there.Sex, drugs and anarchy reign - definitely not your average fairy tale! A masterpiece from Martin Millar, don't miss this chance of buying a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars ignore the moaners! 27 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Please, please, please, please ignore the heathens who rate this as 1 or 2 stars. Yes it's a challenging read, but there are fairies and drugs involved, but hey Wuthering Heights has got ghosts in it so ...
This is a book that will stay with you for decades.
So go on it's only £4.99 (June 2012) All prices correct at time of going to press.
Now shut up fairies... Stop it.... Don't do that ... it tickles.... my that's large, where did you get it from...!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag. 30 April 2012
Format:Paperback
This is a very unusual story and to be perfectly honest I'm not entirely sure how much I enjoyed it. It has a fairly interesting plot line and the characters were interesting and varied. However, at times it was very repetitive which I found very disconcerting. I'm not sure if the author was making a point about the nature of life, or if it was just for comic effect but I think that after a while it had just gone a bit far. But overall this is a funny book and a very quick read, so if you're looking for something quirky and light, I'd recommend it.

There's been a lot of people reviewing this book that don't 'get' it, or taking offence at the broad brush stereotyping of the various fairy clans (who are supposed to be exactly... Read more

I just cant understand what people see in this book. It's badly written, the plot is one dimensional, the charactirsation is stereotyped and unoriginal!

1.0 out of 5 stars Good Title
I liked the idea of this. Two punk fairies causing havoc in New York, and the title was a good hook. Unfortunately that's where the good stuff ends as far as I'm concerned. Read more
